The rules of the
game are simple enough. When you know the answer to the trivia
question, type it. Each Question has a
60 second time limit. The first person
to type the correct answer to the question gets the points.
Guessing is allowed.
And you can continue to guess until the time limit expires, or
the question is answered correctly.
Point value for
each question is assigned randomly. Point values vary from 1 to 5000 points
for each question. With bonus questions of 10000, 15000,
25000, and
50000 points.
The points value of a question as well as which questions are
bouns questions are assigned randomly.
Mega Bonus Points
are anywhere from 60000 to 85000.
Jackpot Points
is a asked every so often after the questions havent been answered
points for the jackpot hit a certain number its looking for.
Scores are kept
both weekly and monthly. Weekly scores are reset every Saturday
night/Sunday morning at midnight. Monthly scores are reset every
1st of the month. All times local to the bot. At random intervals
the previous weeks and months top 5 players and their scores
are displayed before a question. Also at random intervals the
current weeks and months top 10 players and their scores are
displayed.
There are 2 types
of questions normal questions and KAOS questions. KAOS will be
explained a little later. An example of a normal question is: tri.9382.
What does this page explain ?
the "tri.9382."
is the question number, not important unless you're the one who's
running the trivia bot. :)
Pay close attention
to the hints. They can help you figure out the answer to a question
that you otherwise wouldn't know.
The first hint
will be displayed right after the question is asked. in the form
of :
1st Hint: ******
***** Question value : 20 points
With each *
being an alphanumeric character in the answer. If there is any
punctuation in the answer it will be displayed automaticly.
The second hint
will be displayed after 20 seconds. Or 1/3 of the time limit
if the time limit is different than 60 seconds. It will give
you the first 3 characters in the answer.
ex. 2nd Hint:
tri*** ***** 40.0 secs & 9 points remaining
The third and final
hint will be displayed after 40 seconds, or 2/3 of the time limit
if the time limit is different than 60 seconds. It will reveal
all remaining vowels.
ex. 3rd Hint: tri*ia *u*e*
20.0 secs &
5 points remaining
Don't be surprised
if sometimes the thrid hint is no different than the second hint.
That just means that the remaining characters in the answer are
NOT vowels. The trivia bot NEVER counts
w or y as
vowels.
If no one answers
within the time limit the answer will be displayed.
ex. Times up!
The answer
was -> trivia
rules <-
Regardless if the
question was answered correctly or not, a few seconds later a
new question will be asked.
Typing ~ at
any point during the question will remind the channel what the
first character of the answer is. Continuing the example of the
question above. ~
Would give
you HINT: t
KAOS questions
are a little different. Here's an example of a KAOS question:
KAOS KAOS:
Van Halen albums ? 10 answers
12 points for each matching answer.
Total 120 points.
At 2/3 of the time
limit the bot will report :
Matching answers
so far: 0 from a possible 10
20.0 secs remaining
With 0 being
replaced with the number of correct answers so far.
When the time limit
expires all the answers will be displayed.
ex: TIMES UP! The answers were: Van
Halen Van Halen II Fair Warning Women and Children First Diver
Down 1984 5150 OU812 For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Balance
It can get
kinda confusing since there's nothing to indicate where one answer
ends and another begins.
No hints are given
with the exception that ~
would give
you the first letter of the first correct answer in the bot's
list. Using the above question as an example:
~ would
give you HINT: V
no matter how
many times it's typed, even if the first answer had already been
said.
